Getting into racing
DCC riders currently compete in road, cyclocross & MTB races and the Club is keen to support any DCC members who wish to race. Here is a brief guide to the various forms of racing and what support DCC offers:

Currently members participate in road racing as part of the Surrey League, crit racing at various close circuit tracks in the South East and also Time Trials.

To get into racing we would advise starting with either a crit race at an easy track such as Goodwood or Preston Park. You will need to upgrade your British Cycling membership to a Race Licence. Nothing else is needed by once you have gained enough points to move up to a '3rd cat' you will need to race in your club jersey.
Road racing (on open roads) in the South East is put on by Surrey League and you will currently need to have accumulated points via crit racing to get your 3rd cat (12 points needed) to race these events. Surrey League also runs 'race accreditation' events to help provide exposure to a racing environment in a safe manner and the club will help with the cost of doing these sessions (x2). These are good to do before crit racing too.
The club runs three Time Trials each season as well as a few 'virtual' versions. Those wanting to get into this type of racing should come and give the club events a go. Keep an eye on the events page. Other TTs can be found on Cycling Time Trials website.
Nothing specific is needed kit wise to race, you certainly don't need to got to the expense of specialist kit/ bikes to get into it. Tighter lycra is advisable though.
If you would like to chat to anyone in the club about what is involved, feel free to pop along to the pub post Wednesday Night Blast (ususally the Queen's Head) and speak to one of the faster group who would be more than happy to chat about it!
The club will be able to help new racers for the club with their race licence fee and entry to their first race for DCC. Finally, if you would like to do any off-road racing and would like more information, please speak our chairman (see contact us page).
